A satoshi is one hundred-millionth of a bitcoin, and it is the unit the protocol actually works in. Fee rates are quoted in satoshis per virtual byte, and most everyday amounts are far easier to reason about as whole sats than as long decimals. Learning to think in sats removes a surprising amount of confusion.

Buying a fixed amount on a fixed schedule removes the timing decision. Its real benefit is behavioural: it stops you from committing everything at one moment and from waiting indefinitely for a better entry that may not come.

It does not guarantee a profit, and it does not protect against a sustained decline — a schedule through a multi-year drawdown accumulates more coins at lower prices and is still underwater.
