The Desk
Bitcoin Logical publishes under a collective desk byline. Why that choice, who is accountable, and what would have to be true for a name to appear.
Bitcoin Logical publishes under a collective byline: The Bitcoin Logical Desk. No individual writer is named on any article at present. This page explains that choice, who is accountable, and what would have to be true for a name to appear.
Why a collective byline
The obvious alternative — inventing a masthead — is common in this industry and dishonest. A fabricated writer with a stock portrait and a decade of invented experience exists to make advice feel authoritative, and readers cannot check any of it. We would rather show you an institution you can hold accountable than a face we made up.
A collective byline is also accurate. Pieces here move through drafting, editing and fact-checking, and attributing that to one person would overstate how the work actually happens.
What the byline commits us to
It is not anonymity. Everything published under the desk byline is produced under the standards at editorial guidelines, sourced according to methodology, and corrected in public at corrections. Accountability sits with the publication rather than being diffused: if something here is wrong, there is one place to complain and one record of what changed.
How a piece gets published
Drafting, then editing against the sources, then a fact-check of every figure back to its origin, then publication. Analysis carries a First-Principles Take — Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, and an explicit statement of what the evidence does not prove. Anything touching price or positioning carries a risk note above the article body. Nothing goes out without a sign-off.
Some drafts are AI-assisted. Where they are, a person still edits the piece, checks every figure against its source, and owns the conclusion — and the judgement in a Take is always human. We say this plainly rather than claim a purity we do not have.
What would put a name here
A real person who consents to a public profile. That profile would carry a genuine biography, the subjects they actually cover, and a disclosure of any Bitcoin holdings or positions relevant to their beat. Three things we will not do: invent a person, generate a portrait, or attach a fabricated biography to real work.
Writers who prefer not to be named will continue publishing under the desk byline. That choice carries no penalty in what they can write, and is a normal arrangement rather than a lesser one.
Guest contributors
Outside analysis appears under a clearly labelled Guest Contributors byline with a disclosure of any relevant position, employment or relationship. Guest work is edited to the same standard, including the requirement to state what the argument does not prove. Terms are at careers.
